Three listings didn't load their options for our date — the Tokyo Tower premium tour, the 2–3-hour Shibuya/Shinjuku tour and the Akihabara local-guide tour — so their figures are listing prices, not checked checkout prices. The racing track is priced per group, not per person, and sits outside these bands.

Why checkout can beat the headline

Tokyo Go Kart Price — The “from” Figure vs the Real One

Five of the 24 street tours cost more at checkout on 15 October (a sixth, which didn’t load, lists ¥18,000) than the “from” price on their listing. The gaps ran from +11% to +28%: the most-reviewed Shibuya tour is listed from ¥16,500 and cost ¥18,500 (+12%), and the Shibuya Annex shop lists ¥14,500 and charged ¥18,500 (+28%, ≈$118).

Four of the six gaps share a cause. Those listings showed a crossed-out price next to a discounted “from”: ¥15,000 to ¥13,200 on the Asakusa route, ¥14,000 to ¥12,600 on Shibuya with photos, ¥12,000 to ¥10,800 on the Shibuya Crossing x Tokyo Tower tour and ¥18,000 to ¥15,660 on the Tokyo Tower premium tour. Three of them charged exactly the crossed-out price on our date; the fourth didn't load its options.

Tokyo Go Kart Cost per Hour of Tour

The cheapest kart time in Tokyo comes on the long routes: the 2.5-hour Tokyo Bay and Ginza option on the East Tokyo tour works out at ¥6,400 an hour, against ¥24,000 an hour for the 30-minute electric ride in Shibuya. Price per hour is a fairer yardstick than the headline, because the options we priced run from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours.

Listed length is not driving time. Only Street Kart Shibuya states the minutes at the wheel (“1 hour of driving”), and the Shinjuku listing (928764) builds a 15-minute safety briefing into its one-hour itinerary. Reviewers notice: Merel (April 2025) was back at the Shibuya Annex shop “after 45/50 minutes, even though it says the tour lasts at least an hour”, while Wendy (April 2026) recommends the 2-hour flagship “if you want to maximize driving time”.

The time slot moves the price more than the shop

Day, Sunset and Night Prices

On the same route, a night slot can cost more than double the morning one: the Shibuya Crossing x Tokyo Tower tour sold its 90-minute morning slot at ¥12,000, daytime at ¥14,000 and its night/sunset slot at ¥26,000 (≈$165) for 15 October. The Tokyo Tower to Shibuya tour charged ¥16,000 by day and ¥26,000 for its one-hour night tour.

Not every shop charges more after dark. The Old Town route priced its evening tour at ¥14,000, the same as its day tour, and the most-reviewed Shibuya tour sold its single option — ten start times on our date — at one price, ¥18,500. Night is what many reviewers remember: Laura (September 2026) booked the 7.30pm start in Shibuya and loved “seeing the city lit up”.

A late-afternoon start is a cheaper way to watch the lights come on. The Asakusa, Skytree and Akihabara tour sold all six start times on our date at one price, ¥15,000, and its reviewers suggest timing it: Maria (November 2025) recommends “around 4pm”, and Ben (January 2026) enjoyed “watching the city go from day to night while driving”.

What the Price Includes — And What Costs Extra

The ticket price covers the kart, fuel, a guide on the road and photos on almost every listing, and 19 of the 24 street listings also include a costume. What sits outside the price is small but real, and the documents are paid for at home before you fly.

Price the camera before you add it. Tameia (May 2026, ★3) calls the SD-card price on the Old Town route “outrageous” and says “they try to charge for everything”. Guide photos, by contrast, come in the price: Raul (September 2026) says the host went “above and beyond with taking pictures at the red lights”.

Tokyo Go Kart Price FAQ

A one-hour street go-kart tour in Tokyo cost ¥7,000–¥18,500 per person by day on 15 October 2026. The low end is the new Shibuya and Harajuku tour, which had no reviews yet and lists its karaoke and cafe costs as extra; one-hour tours with reviews ran from ¥9,000 (a single last spot) and ¥10,000 (Ginza) to ¥18,500 (both Street Kart Shibuya listings). The one-hour night tour from Tokyo Tower to Shibuya cost ¥26,000 (≈$165).

The cheapest listing on 15 October 2026 was the Shibuya and Harajuku tour at ¥7,000 (≈$45) for one hour, but it had no reviews yet, and the karaoke in its title costs extra. Among reviewed tours, the Shibuya and Shinjuku tour showed ¥9,000 for one last spot, with its regular option at ¥13,500, and the Ginza tour cost ¥10,000 with ★5.0 from 67 reviews.

Because the “from” figure is the lowest price a listing advertises, and your date and time may not get it. Five of 24 street tours cost more at checkout on 15 October than their “from”, by 11% to 28%, and a sixth that didn't load lists a higher crossed-out price. Four of the six showed a crossed-out discount that didn't apply on our date. Check your own date in the booking widget before comparing.

On some routes, yes, by up to ¥14,000. The Shibuya Crossing x Tokyo Tower tour cost ¥12,000 in the morning and ¥26,000 for its night/sunset slot, and the Tokyo Tower to Shibuya tour ¥16,000 by day and ¥26,000 at night. Other shops don't add a premium: the Old Town route priced its day and evening tours the same, at ¥14,000.

The main ones are camera rental, kart damage and the documents. Two Shibuya-area listings charge ¥50,000 for kart repairs after an accident unless you add ¥1,000 vehicle cover, and a September 2026 reviewer of the most-reviewed tour paid ¥1,000 for insurance. An IDP costs about USD 20 in the US; the JAF translation is ¥6,000 (≈$38).

Sometimes, but we can't confirm it today: an October 2024 comparison quoted operators' own prices at ¥8,800–¥15,400, often a few thousand yen below platform prices for the same route; we haven't verified current direct prices. Booking on GetYourGuide gives you its cancellation terms — 24 hours before on most listings — and most listings offered reserve now, pay later on 29 September 2026.

The closed circuit in Ichihara, Chiba, costs ¥26,400 (≈$168) per group of up to three for the adult kart, and the junior kart option for ages 6–12 costs ¥40,000. No road license is needed. The included midday session runs from 12:00 to 1:30 PM with unlimited laps, and you get there yourself, about 60 minutes from central Tokyo.

Yes on almost every listing. Three of the four Street Kart listings — Shibuya, Akihabara and the Tokyo Bay flagship — allow free cancellation up to 7 days before, and most others up to 24 hours before. The Akihabara local-guide tour is non-refundable. Most listings also offered reserve now, pay later when we checked on 29 September 2026.

No tip is expected, and none is in the price. Tipping is not customary in Japan, and five listings — four Street Kart shops and Tokyo Z Kart — name tips or gratuities under “not included”, which leaves it to you.
